Teaching Fellow in Italian in the Department of European Languages and Cultures at the University of Edinburgh. This guaranteed-hours post is available from January 2025.
The postholder will deliver and convene courses for the Italian degree programmes, with a specialism in translation from Italian to English. They will play an active role in the administrative tasks of the subject area, as appropriate, including course organisation.
The postholder may also be required to support student learning meetings. They may be involved in developing innovative pedagogical materials designed to strengthen discussions regarding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion as part of broader efforts to question and decolonise our curriculum.

Your skills and attributes for success: - Degree in a relevant area.
- Commitment to high-quality teaching, learning and assessment with demonstrable success in delivering effective university teaching in relevant fields (such as translation, Italian language and/or Italophone culture).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in Italian and English, and clear communication with students in correspondence and feedback.
- An ability to teach translation from Italian into English.
- Evidence of self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing and prioritising within a varied workload.

About the TeamDELC offers research expertise and teaching in a wide range of languages: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish and Catalan, with postgraduate supervision available in all, and degree-level study available in all but the last. With over 40 members of full-time research staff, including an expanding number of post-doctoral fellows and experts in Translation Studies and Film Studies, as well as a variety of Foreign Language and Teaching Assistants, the Division offers a vibrant and stimulating environment for study and research, in the literatures and cultures of all the languages it specialises in.
The Division works closely with the consulates and national cultural centres in the capital and is home to a wide number of international research and publication projects, ranging from the Princess Dashkova Russian Centre to the Centre d'études francophones belges.
