We are seeking a passionate Teacher of Italian to join our dynamic and international Senior School Voorschoten campus (SSV) of The British School in the Netherlands, starting as soon as possible.
This is a short term cover role until July 2026.
The RoleThis part-time (60%) position predominantly involves teaching native and near-native Italian speakers as part of our Personal Languages programme for Years 10-13. Students in this programme work towards internationally recognised GCSE and A-Level qualifications in Italian.
Additionally, we offer Italian Ab Initio as part of the Language Acquisition course in the IB Diploma and Career-related Programme.
As a key member of our team, you will also contribute to the development of the Modern Foreign Languages Department and participate in extracurricular activities that promote language learning and cultural enrichment.
Responsibilities:- Teach Italian to GCSE, A-Level, and IB Ab Initio students
- Develop engaging lessons tailored to an international student body.
- Support native and near-native Italian speakers in the Personal Languages Programme.
- Integrate EdTech into teaching and learning (training available if needed).
- Contribute to language department development and extracurricular activities.
The CandidateEssential Qualifications & Skills:- Recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching GCSE, A-Level, or IB Italian (or willingness to train in these curricula).
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to an international school environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Passion for language teaching and cultural education.
Desirable:- Experience teaching native speakers.
- Experience working in an international school setting.
About the Modern Foreign Languages Faculty at SSV:- We offer Dutch, French, German, and Spanish as core languages.
