Senior Controller and Accountant Specialist (Fluent Italian)

We are looking for a
SeniorController and Accountant Specialist. This position will be located inMadrid and will monitor the development of a region, mainly composed by NipponGases business in Italy. This role will be pivotal in supporting seniorbusiness leaders with financial insights, performance analysis, anddecision-making support. You will act as a key liaison between the finance departmentand business teams, driving business performance and fostering a culture offinancial accountability. This Controller will report directly to the FinanceDirector of the region, who is based in Madrid, ensuring you have the guidanceand support needed to excel in your role.
KeyResponsibilities- Support the organization with the monthly reporting process, including execution of Accounting and Tax analysis and assessments.
- Develop, in collaboration with FP&A, robust financial models to support budgeting, forecasting and mid-term planning.
- Collaborate with FP&A, accounting, tax and the other finance teams to ensure financial accuracy in the reporting and compliance.
- Monitor key financial KPIs and closing activities, including the analysis of the development of the business.
- Act as a financial partner to the business, providing financial guidance toward the company goals and support on business decisions, through cost/benefit analysis and trade-off mindset.
- Partner with business heads with focus on value creation, to optimize profitability and cash flows.
- Support business case preparation for investments, projects and new initiatives.
- Lead finance workstream for M&A projects (Due Diligence, Valuation, Negotiation of price and price-adjustments clauses, PPA, post-merger integration, etc).
- Provide governance guidance.
Job requirementsBackground- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration with focus on Finance, Accounting and Controlling, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Italian accounting standards.
- At least 8 years of experience in accounting or FP&A. Big four audit experience is a plus.
PreferredQualifications- Master or MBA.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA /ACCA or ACA) .
- Experience in FCCS/PBCS or Hyperion (HFM), Power BI is a plus.
- Experience with administration and reporting in ERP systems.
- Experience in M&A projects and business case modelling is a plus.
- Prior industry experience.
RequiredSkills- Fluent in Italian and English (written and spoken).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong business acumen.
- Ability to work independently and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Experienced excel user - our objective is to automate and reduce manual work.
- Critical thinking skills, including the ability to quickly assimilate new information, identify patterns, make sound decisions and develop creative solutions.
- Positive attitude, desire to learn, self-motivated and effective team player.
- Ability to work independently and be flexible.
