Discover the Role

Take the lead in delivering high-quality payroll services while guiding a small, dedicated team. In this role, you will combine hands-on expertise with people leadership, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellent client experience, especially across complex Italian payroll matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a payroll team (up to 10 people), including performance reviews, goal setting, and engagement initiatives
• Coordinate daily operations, set team priorities, and ensure timely, accurate service delivery
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, managing both standard and complex payroll queries
• Oversee payroll processes in line with internal policies and local regulations
• Manage escalations and support service discussions with clients
• Ensure compliance with legislation changes and maintain up-to-date payroll knowledge (Italy focus)
• Collaborate across teams to resolve operational challenges and improve service delivery
• Support training and knowledge-sharing within the team and broader audience

Key Requirements

• 5+ years of payroll experience, with strong knowledge of Italian payroll and legislation
• Proven experience in team management and people development
• Ability to manage client relationships, including complex discussions and escalations
• Experience working with payroll systems, tools, and reporting to local authorities
• Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
• Confident communication skills in English and Italian (minimum C1 level for both)
• Proactive mindset with a focus on quality, continuous improvement, and client satisfaction
