About us

About the role
The post holder will contribute to teaching at undergraduate level and will teach approximately 320 contact hours per year. They will primarily teach Italian language but will also be expected to contribute to other teaching and to BA and MA dissertation supervision within Italian Studies and programmes across SELCS-CMII, according to their expertise and the needs of the programme, and as directed by the Programme Director of Italian Studies and the Head of Department of SELCS-CMII. The post holder will be expected to participate in departmental events and contribute to the intellectual life of the department. They are entitled to devote 15 per cent of their working hours to scholarship and/or research, and will be welcome to participate in our Research Clusters, research seminar series, public engagement initiatives, and other events and projects. About you
The post holder will have a PhD or equivalent in Italian Studies and experience of teaching and assessing Italian language and culture at university level in the UK. They will have complete fluency in Italian and English and excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with both colleagues and students. They will have experience of teaching and assessment at MA level in the UK in Italian Studies, Comparative Literature, Film Studies, or a related field. They will have proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and to share modules and teaching materials with colleagues. They will have a commitment to UCL's policy of equal opportunity and the ability to work well with colleagues and students of all cultures and backgrounds.
