Who are we?

At Coffee Break Languages, we create language learning resources for a worldwide audience through award-winning podcasts, online courses, books, and video content. Delivering over 2 million language lessons every month, we aim to engage, educate and entertain the learners in our community. Our team is based in south-west Scotland and we work with a team of teachers, content creators and language experts to produce resources across a range of languages, including French, Italian, German, Spanish, English and more.

Our mission is to make language learning accessible through high quality, user-friendly resources that learners can use anytime, anywhere.

As the company continues to grow, we are excited to expand our offering with a new service, which aims to provide learners with one-to-one, personalised coaching support alongside our core content.

About 1-1 coaching

1-1 coaching is a new service from Coffee Break which combines the flexibility of self-study with the motivation, guidance and accountability of one-to-one coaching. Our teachers will help learners stay on track, build confidence, and apply what they are learning in a supportive and encouraging environment.

To deliver this service, we are recruiting a team of remote teachers who share our passion for language learning and learner success.

Who we're looking for

We are looking to recruit a team of enthusiastic and experienced freelance Italian teachers to deliver 1-to-1 online lessons to language learners, via video calls, around the world.

This role is ideal for experienced language teachers who enjoy working independently, value learner-centred teaching, and share our positive, encouraging approach to language learning.

As this is a freelance, demand-based role, there is no guarantee of regular hours. Our aim is to build a team of trusted remote tutors whom we can call on as learner demand grows.

What to expect as a remote Italian Teacher

As part of the team, you can expect:
  • fully remote work
  • lessons delivered via 1-to-1 video calls with language learners
  • flexible hours (some sessions may take place outside standard office hours, depending on learners' time zones)
  • hourly pay
  • sessions offered according to learner demand
  • inclusion in a wider team of staff
  • full training in the Coffee Break Languages Method before you begin
  • independent working which aligns with Coffee Break's philosophy and teaching principles
  • ongoing support from the Coffee Break Languages team
  • the opportunity to work with motivated adult learners from around the world
  • a friendly, professional, and well-structured coaching framework

Requirements

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, experienced and learner-focused teachers who:
  • are highly proficient or native-level in Italian.
  • are proficient in English (this is the language through which we teach)
  • have experience teaching, tutoring, or coaching adult language learners (formal or informal)
  • are confident delivering sessions online, via video calls
  • can explain language clearly and adapt to different learner needs
  • are detail-oriented with the ability to identify mistakes when proofreading
  • are creative and culturally aware
  • are warm, encouraging, and professional in their communication
  • are reliable, organised, excellent at timekeeping and comfortable working independently as part of a wider team
  • are passionate about languages, learning and supporting learners

Familiarity with communicative language teaching and an interest in guided self-study models is an advantage, but full training in the Coffee Break Languages approach will be provided.

Important reminders

This role involves:
  • Freelance / self-employed
  • Hourly pay for coaching time
  • Work offered on a demand-led basis from learners i.e. no guaranteed hours
  • Coaching sessions which may take place outside standard office hours, depending on learners' time zones

Benefits

As a remote Italian Teacher at Coffee Break Languages, you will benefit from:
